Talk to Estimate is an app for contractors and a web page for their customers. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We do not sell your information and we do not show ads.

Who we are

This page covers the Android app Estimate Maker: Talk and Send on Google Play (it shows as Talk to Estimate on your phone, package com.talktoestimate.app) and the website talktoestimate.com. Both are made by Harris Apps Studio. You can reach us at hello@talktoestimate.com.

If you are a contractor using the app

  • Your email, to send your sign-in code.
  • Your business details: name, trade, phone, email, address, logo, license number, rates, tax and deposit settings, and your price book.
  • Your customers' details that you type in: name, phone, email and address. The app does not read your contacts.
  • Your estimates: line items, scope, assumptions, exclusions, photos you add, payments you record and invoice numbers.
  • The text of what you say when you build an estimate. Your phone's own speech service (Google's on most Android phones) turns your voice into text. We never receive, record or keep the audio, only the text.
  • Basic usage counts, such as when you finished setup or sent your first estimate, and how many AI estimates you build, so we can run the plan limits and fix problems.

If you are a customer opening an estimate

When you approve an estimate we save the name you typed, your signature drawing, the time, your IP address, your browser and device, and a fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash) of the exact estimate you approved. This is the record that you agreed to it, and the contractor who sent it can rely on it. We also note when the estimate page was first opened.

Who helps us run it

  • Anthropic (Claude) turns the text of a job description into line items. It receives the text, your trade, your price book and recent line items, never your customers' phone numbers or your sign-in details.
  • Vercel hosts the website and the app's server. Turso stores the database. Brevo sends sign-in code emails.
  • Google Play handles Pro subscriptions. We never see your card.
  • Microsoft Clarity shows us how people use this website (clicks, scrolling and anonymous page recordings) so we can make it easier to use. It uses cookies. What you type into forms is hidden from it. It does not run in the app or on the estimate pages customers open.

Share and install counts

When you share Talk to Estimate with someone, the link carries a short code so we can count shares and installs that came from it. That code is not your name or email.

How long we keep it

We keep your account while you use it. Delete your account and we remove your business, customers, estimates, photos and usage records. A customer's approval record is removed with the contractor's account.

Your choices

You can see and change your details in the app. You can delete your account in the app under Settings or on the delete account page. For anything else, use the help page.

Children

Talk to Estimate is for businesses. It is not meant for anyone under 18.
